I’ll be doing a Kite Aerial Photography demonstration at the Riverfest celebration this Sunday at Pinhey’s Point Historic Site just west of Ottawa. I will have an exhibit tent where I will show equipment, explain technique, answer questions and display prints and photo greeting cards of both aerial and non-aerial photography. If the weather and wind cooperate, I may also have the opportunity to fly a kite to lift the camera equipment and thereby round off the demonstration. No guarantees on this but we can hope for a good day.
This would also be a good opportunity to view my ongoing exhibit “History in the Wind” in the Pinhey’s Point Historic Site museum. Here I display framed prints of a selection of my aerial images of the site taken over the past few years. The exhibit commenced on June 17 and runs through to September 2 (Wednesdays to Sundays).
There is a host of other things happening at Riverfest on Sunday. For more information visit:

Docks and ice – Nepean Sailing Club

It was a nice day today for a trip to the Nepean Sailing Club at Dick Bell Park … at least for photographers not sailors.
Late winter/early spring can seem a bit dreary for photography with the dirty ice and dead grass poking through. I decided to make this 3rd aerial outing to Nepean Sailing Club, figuring that it would be a good day for shapes and forms from the air. I had seen the docks poking through the ice last week while driving out to Kanata.
Here are a couple of the shots I took today. You can see more in the KAP 2010-2 gallery on my website.

I enjoyed speaking to the club about my recent photographic sideline/passion with Kite Aerial Photography. As I mentioned in the talk, you often get unintended images, especially when near ground level doing the pre-launch manipulations and tests. Well, I came away from the meeting with this candid little gem of a very attentive audience.
Here’s looking at you!
